Tele-Health Policy

As defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, “tele-nutrition” is “The interactive use by an RD/RDN, of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to implement the Nutrition Care Process with patients or clients at a remote location.”

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services defines tele-health as “the use of technology to deliver healthcare, health information and or health education.”

Here at One Potato Two Tomato our tele-nutrition services make it easy for parents, children and adolescents to receive high quality nutrition counseling, education, and meal planning in the comfort of your home or office via video conference or by phone. Due to the pandemic all of our nutrition services are provided this way.

HIPPA
One Potato Two Tomato pediatric and adolescent, family nutrition services firmly believes that your child, adolescent and or family health information is of utmost importance and should be private and protected. There are many popular telehealth and social media methods such as Facetime, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Skype, texting applications and many more that are not HIPPA compliant and could leave your private health information vulnerable. We do not and will not use any of the following listed above or any other NON-HIPPA compliant telehealth methods that are not listed herein. We use a HIPPA compliant tele-nutrition/tele-health platform to provide our nutrition services, private, protected and secure electronic transmissions of your health & nutrition information data.  For more details, please read our HIPPA policy on our website.
 

STATE LAWS & RESTRICTIONS
Some states have laws and restricted Medical and Nutrition practice providers to those who hold state-issued telehealth licenses, certificates or other similar permissions. When using telehealth/tele-nutrition services, the location of the client is considered the “place of service,” which is where the provider, in this case being us, “One Potato Two Tomato/1Potato2Tomato Tele-Nutrition Services” must have required licensure. One Potato Two Tomato’s tele-nutrition practice is located in the state of Tennessee in which our registered dietitians are TN state licensed and certified as LDN’s to provide nutrition services in the state of Tennessee. However, our registered dietitians are further and also credentialed through the American Academy of Dietetics and Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) which if the National Governing Organization for Registered Dietitian (RD & RDN) certification. https://www.cdrnet.org/about There are a vast majority of states who do recognize the CDR RD & RDN credentials as being proper, sufficient and acceptable certification to legally allow and provide nutrition counseling services in a state without having to have their own individual state’s licensing requirements and certifications (LDN’s). Each state has their own definitions, laws and descriptions of who is eligible and legally able to provide nutrition counseling and nutrition services by RD’s, RDN’s, LDN’s or Non-RD’s and when, where and how health and nutrition services are reimbursable or not reimbursable for health insurance purposes.

HEALTH  INSURANCE  REIMBURSEMENT

We do not currently accept any health insurance at this time. All of our tele-nutrition services and or nutrition meal plans & products available and sold on our website are self-pay out pocket expenses and due to be paid at time of purchase.
